The front parts "pop" off if you slip micro screwdrivers into these tiny squares at the front of the switch.
Then (took a tiny, but long drill bit) and poked the nasty color thing out.
    Easy as pie

Did all the indicators at the top of the cluster last night. Went with blue instead of amber, might switch it though, haven't decided yet.
Also got my cruise/sunroof switch done. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow night.

Regarding the bluish paint on the back of the climate control unit, I was wondering if that is similar to the bluish plastic on the back of the gauges in the speedometer. When I did the conversion in red on my stock cluster, the bluish filter pretty much blocked out the red light coming from my cluster innards. I'll have to try the paint thinner method next time I have my cluster out.

Or I could shell out and swap for the ultra-cool bb6 cluster like yours.

The amber/red gauge light is so much more pleasing on the eyes at night. It's no wonder that the cabin lights in small airplanes [large too? never been in one larger than a cessna 172] are red.
Older planes are red. Red, and amber don't destroy night vision as much as white. Green and blue can be used as well, although red and amber are best. Unfortunately, they are also a little bit harder to read, and tend to be more splotchy.

Most new planes use a greenish white actually, or a green. With modern technology, it is possible to still get dim even lighting, and preserve night vision.

I don't know if the cluster plastic still uses bluish green paint or not. I thought they might use actual colored plastic, similar to the filters that are in the stock switches.

Definitely understandable. I had the same issue. LOL!

They come apart exactly like the hazard and defrost switch. Just be careful and you should be fine.

I bought Accord SI switches and climate. It seems to match the BB6 more
Looks like mine when I first did it thought great job man!
I just used BMW and DSM amber parts plus some window tint. Eventually came out great.

Nice write up and lets see some dash fitment pics
Mine match the BB6 cluster exactly.
