ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Child Safety Lock problem

    Hey guys!
So on my 93 Sedan, I removed the interior panel on the rear driver's side door to try to fit the outside door handle. Because for some time now, the handle wouldn't open the door. I still couldn't get it fixed. I thought maybe it is the Child Safety lock, so I flipped it down and closed the door. Now the door doesn't open from the outside OR the inside...It used to open from the inside, when the safety lock was disengaged. But now it doesn't work. My power door locks work now and then, because the remote is old and not working properly.

Do I have to go inside and remove the panel and disengage the safety lock that way? Or is there another method? I remember long ago, I disengaged it once. But I forgot how, exactly. Please help!!

And if you have suggestions on how to hook up the outside door handle to open from the outside, please advise me on that too!

You've essentially locked yourself out of that door. It's kinda funny but I can see the frustration here. I'm assuming you didn't fix the door handle prior to trying this? I would say if you can remove the panel without the door being open then you could manually pull the release to open the door. As for replacing the handle I'm not sure but that is an upcoming project for me as well.

Thank you for responding! I will try to pull out the panel from the inside. The rear doesn't have a screw at the bottom like the front driver's side's do. So I think if I can somehow just pop the holding pins out. I can get to it. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm going to try it later today! Yeah I was pretty darn frustrated...Didn't know what I should do.

Thank you! I resolved the problem! I realized I didn't need to remove the door panel. I just had to take off the door handle and pull on the metal rod hard and push. And it opened! And unlocked the child safety lock!
