    Honda CR-Z facelift leaked

Could debut in Tokyo later this year

The first purported pictures of the refreshed Honda CR-Z have surfaced online.

The sporty hybrid vehicle is set to receive an all-new generation in 2017, so the Japanese company has decided to give it one more facelift to keep it fresh for the next two years. The car is retaining its distinctive shape but now features a modified front end with new fascia and bigger fog lamps. The headlights also appear to be slightly redesigned. At the back we noticed a reshaped bumper with a new lower diffuser.

There’s also a blurry photo of the interior that shows the cabin changes are limited as well and include a new electronic parking brake with a button on the center console behind the gear lever and a new center armrest with a storage box. The image comes from a scanned brochure and features arrows pointing to other changes, but full details will be available when the car debuts.

While nothing is confirmed, the official premiere of the 2016 CR-Z could occur during the Tokyo Motor Show later this year.

Facelifted 2016 Honda CR-Z Officially Launched In Japan [80 Photos]

The spy shots of the facelifted Honda CR-Z we showed you earlier this week are the real deal – the refreshed model with cosmetic and equipment upgrades has just been launched in Japan.

The 2016MY sporty hybrid gets a redesigned front fascia with a wing-line lip that unites the grille with the enlarged fog lights. The rear fascia is more sculpted as well, while the rear wheels have been pushed out to give the CR-Z a more dynamic stance. New wheel designs are also on the table.

In addition, the JDM-spec facelifted CR-Z features new LED headlights, but those will not be offered in the United States in order to keep costs down.

Changes inside include the replacement of the lever-style parking brake between the front seats with an electric one (which also made room for an armrest), the addition of a touch-panel audio screen as well as a new sound system fitted with an engine amplifier that accompanies acceleration with fake noises.

Unfortunately, the powertrain remains unchanged, which means the 1.5-liter petrol engine and the electric motor continue to produce just 130hp. The CR-Z does get larger disc brakes though (15 inches up from 14 inches on the current model) and an active noise cancellation technology to reduce road noise perceived in the cabin.

The facelifted Honda CR-Z will go on sale in Japan in October and is expected to arrive in the US shortly after.

Not bad. The side intakes in the bumper make it look kinda Kia-ish. Still one of Honda's best modern designs overall, imo. Hopefully they've noticed the tuner community attention to the car and will release a hot Si version. Would be a perfect candidate for at least a de-tuned version of the new CTR motor. Ford does it with the Focus and Fiesta STs, come on Honda!

Not bad. But does not look functional. Looks like all dirt and dust will be re-directed to the fog lights. And the front license plate should be off to one side to help air get to the rad. Hopefully they put some power in the hybrid like most modern manufactures are doing.

I wish from the start it came with a K20. A SI model would've been great.

Honda is just hell-bent on making this car fail I guess. Put a k20 in it and ill pick one up as soon as it drops. Otherwise im waiting until it hits project car prices.
