lol so I'm watching fast and the furious, I'm looking at how big bodykits, vinyls and neons used to be the IT thing. Somehow that style sort of died off and people jumpedon. The 'JDM' bandwagon and stickerbombing which has been out for YEARS. Anyway, who still maintains that style? I never liked the bodykits and extensive vinyls but, I think neons look kinda cool if done right. Anyone else?

I'm down with rocking an under glow. Interior LED's too when done right. I like body kits as long as the fit with the car, but they rarely do. Unless it's a Nissan. For some reason they all look better with a body kit.'93 H22A 5SPD SE - MRT - DIY-Turbo Sizing

Accessory lighting is very nice when done tastefully, like many of us are doing with LED retrofits throughout our cars.
Hell, back in '04 I used to have blue underglow on a black Ford Contour LOL.
I like little touches of accessory lighting, but I don't like it when it gets to the point of looking like a disco party on shrooms.

Although I'm not sure why, I'm starting to see cars with led kits being used the same way neon kits were back in the day. I saw something the other night with led strips on both side mirrors and behind the wheels.

I STILL want amber neons under my car! I'll probably do it someday.
That trend, just like any other, got overdone. The market became flooded with crap, and suddenly anyone with a car done in that style just wasn't unique anymore. Just like JDM fell to the fact that EVERYONE can get JDM parts pretty easily now on ebay, or any number of reputable importers. Just like "VIP" and "stanced" will fall to the fact that 90% of the people pursuing those trends now don't put the effort and money into making it look right (XXR wheels are the perfect example of bringing the "stanced" look to the cheap-ass masses!)
The body kit trend may actually be gaining respect in the scene once again. I've noticed that the general attitude toward "riced out" kitted cars is changing, and well-done kits are beginning to be admired again. Because now, they're the unique minority once again.
kamaccord's car used to be cherry red, kitted, riding on black 18s... this car was very F&F, minus the decals. Then he changed it. Painted the car rosewood brown, put some more popular wheels on it (XXRs, actually... ) and made it look more "JDM". It was beautiful both ways, and he did a good job... but the well-executed kitted version of his car is the one I really liked. The facelifted JDM look didn't really appeal to me in the least. (that car, and its parts, are currently for sale in the Classifieds.)
