I bought a 93 base model accord back in november, It had been sitting under a tree for about a year unused. When I took it home I noticed the antenna didnt open fully, I took the power antenna assembly out, and got the mast out, I had to put vice-grips on the end and hammer it for ages until each section finally opened up, I oiled it up and put it back together and it worked great until now, it stays partially open, is there some way I can stop it from getting stuck all the time? perhaps something other than engine oil would work better? Some sort of grease that doesnt attract dirt, idk, how do you guys keep it running smoothly?

ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Power antenna keeps getting stuck partially open

I would suggest installing a new mast; I have had good success with masts from Bridgewood Motorsports, www.antennamastsrus.com. The new mast comes with installation instructions. There are a couple threads in the DIY section, but the pictures no longer work. I used to rebuild them (for fun and not so much profit); I guess I should do another and prepare a new DIY. I think is it best to just keep the mast clean, almost any lubricant will attract dirt. When I get gas and clean my windshield, I'll use the paper towel to clean the mast as well - hold the top end to support it while you wipe up and down.
It is also possible that the internals of your motor assembly are very dirty and the teeth on the mast drive belt are worn. There is a small pin in the motor assembly that keeps the drive belt in contact with the drive gear - this pin wears and allows the belt to slip on the gear. The pin can be pulled out and rotated to an unworn spot to correct this.
Edit: This thread has some photos and info about cleaning the insides of the antenna assembly: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=166674Last edited by Fleetw00d; 03-11-2017, 12:42 AM.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450
