ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

F22A1 oil pressure light flashing during high G's.

I've been getting a rather worrisome issue, where hard, sustained cornering triggers the oil pressure light. The engine is not low on oil, and has approximately 171,000 miles. Once I enter a corner at speed the oil light comes on almost instantly, and continues to flash as I exit. Turning the car off and on again obviously resets the light, and it does not come on again if I drive the car normally. I can floor it in a straight line without triggering the light, it only occurs during cornering.

From what I can discern, I either have a legitimate oil pressure issue, or my pressure switch is faulty. I'd rather not pass it off as the switch being faulty if there is actually an issue at hand. I'm concerned that this might simply be a symptom of the engine being old and worn out, with tolerances between bearing surfaces being exaggerated.

There was one time when the motor seemed to cut out as I was accelerating exiting a corner with the light flashing.

What should I look at first?

First thing would be to check that the connector is securely attached to the oil pressure switch.

Second thing would be to verify the actual oil pressure. Temporarily install an actual pressure gage either directly in place of the switch, or tee it in.

At 171,000, it shouldn't be worn out unless it has been neglected. What brand/weight oil do you use? How often do you change the filter? Cornering in what direction - left?

Is it only when you are making left hand turns?

If you are cornering enough to push the oil away from the oil sump on left hand turns. You may need to add a baffled oil pan or a dry sump oil system.
