    Anyone know how to refurbish a door lock actuator?

    I got a door latch actuator for my car from the junkyard. How do i refurbish this one. Does grease particles get inside the gear mechanisms and need cleaning. The one on my car needs to be refurbished or the one i got from junkyard. SO i got one to test on and fuck up but was hoping for some direction from someone who has done this before.

    I bought two once to fix Ruby. I cut one apart to determine how to release the failed on my driver door; then installed the second one (verified it worked first). That's one part I haven't attempted to "refurbish".

      AM thinking there is just grease particle buildup in mine as summer time it works fine. Maybe i should just shell out 175 for a new one. As any from junkyard is probably 50/50 in last any amount of real time.

        There's a spray dry lube made by 3 in 1 that I used on both of my cars' locks. When I first got my first 91 I thought the actuators were going out, as flicking the lock switch only resulted in an odd sound and a 50/50 chance the actual lock would move enough to unlock the door. They were all pretty stiff before I used it and now they turn back and forth easily. Getting the keys in and out now is a breeze. No more feeling like the key is getting hung up on tumblers.

        Initially I thought it was just because my key was so worn, but getting a newly cut key only made it worse. The lube was the most effective fix for me. It would be a cheap easy fix if it worked for you.

          My key turns the lock just fine. It is only with the electric locks and when it si cold it has problems locking or unlocking all the way without having to do it multiple times.
