I've never seen them for an accord before. I just changed the plugs on a 98' Ford Expedition with coil-packs. It was a bitch. But only because there is NO FUCKING ROOM to work on the rear plugs...

But damn dude...for almost 2k, it better fucking deliver some gains... Im just not sure what type of gains you can/should expect from something like this on your already badass accord.

Ive driven nearly identical expeditions with the same motor, some with distributors, some with coil-packs and i felt virtually no difference at all..what-so-ever. IDK if that helps you..

Not me but I have been curious about it, I would imagine bigger gains on a higher revving engine. And wouldn't it look slick to have no dizzy and big ol plug wires!

I have an AEM EMS and M&W CDI ignition box on my s2000. The AEM pencil coils are JUNK. I have 2 that wont fire already and they have less than 100 miles on them. I had to swap back to my stock coil packs on my way up to get my tune. I did correct dwell in the EMS to 0 for the pencil coils and CDI box. The AEM twinfire is also reported to be junk. Do a google search and you'll see many threads where people had issues with their twinfire CDI boxes just quit working.

I love my AEM EMS, but their ignition stuff is garbage.

see i heard the same but bisi swears by it and he has a proven race machine. im thinking aem p-n-p, msd dis-4, factory honda coils and aem trigger unit. but idk. the biggest reason i want the coils is throttle response and safer tuning. do you realize with a distributor the spark is so weak because the single coil never gets a break and on top of that no matter how well the tuner the ignition timing will never be accurate. think about it an engine that is more responsive, its gotta be improving something. im just trying to break 200whp without a race cam and still be able to run pump gas.

just wondering if anyone has had experience with one of these. its a cdi box or "capacitive discharge ignition" box. it basically keeps the coil from breaking up at higher rpms. so for example at idle you coil has plenty of time to build up energy for ignition fire because there is more time between fires. idle is say cyl1.....,cyl2.....cyl3, and soo on but the higher you rev the closer together the bursts are meaning the coil has less time to build to maximum capacity before having to distribute to the plug. this is supposed to charge up your coil faster along with longer spark duration below 3k for a better throttle response and better fuel economy. what i was wondering is do you think it might be necessary at this point on my car and does anybody know if it'll be too much for a set of ngk wires?

does your car have the mods to warrant this? Look into cisco's red and white builds...and others...you do not need to mess with the stock ignition system design until you have done some MAJOR mods...even then.

c.o.p. is more efficient...but for that price it will do nothing for you unless you have done extensive mods but have never ever touched the ignition system...and being potentially more efficient on cars designed for it does not mean your cb7 will see this increased efficiency...nor do you need it.

you would see more hp gains by buying a standalone e.m.s. and tuning it right... like hondata s300 or something ...than you will see with just c.o.p.'s. and for the same price

If I were sponsored and sold AEM stuff, I'd swear up and down by it too no matter what. 2 cents.

guy in taiwan is converting stock distributors to a COP type. if you send in your distributor, he'll do the conversion and supply the COP's. runs with the stock ecu.

                      good point bro, lol

i've seen first hand gains on some setups with msd products. i used to have a 92 nissan sentra with 1.6, with msd sport compact box i gained 6whp from 2500-5k and 13whp from 6600-7100rpm peak was only a jump from 101whp to 108whp but man you cant argue with that kind of gain on a stock engine with just a ebay i/h/e combo(dont ask it was in my early stages of tuning). besides man $130-140 vs $1500 plus for c.o.p. i just think it might be a good cost effective alternative until i can scrounge up money for that kind of swap. cop cannot be beat but the msd box cant hurt if installed properly. i mean i have a brand new honda dizzy that got replaced not too long ago and i have all ngk hardware including o2 sensor, lol, and it still seems to have a hard time keeping the plugs lit above 5k. i dont trust parts unless i know the quality or have done enough research. i've had very good luck with msd products. i used to have msd wires until they were stole while my car was parked at a local shop. i loved them, smooth idle and 0 break-up at high rpms. that was also with the stock bottom end. now my static compression is hovering in the 11.3:1 range and dynamic compression is higher so im wondering if this will help. just wanted to get a few more observations before i fork over the cash.

If you can find people here in the US that have bought and installed the DSD2 system, and have had positive experiances using the system on a modified engine (pushing 200+hp) then I'd say go for it. Really cuts down on the cost by using a stock ECU

There are tons of benefits of cop over distributor ignition, some of which have been discussed here. The ability to tune ignition for each cylinder is HUGE, especially on our engine which tends to starve cyl3?? of air....that cylinder runs hotter and needs a different tune than the others. My future build will be tuned with an o2 in each primary and cop ignition. I will squeeze every bit of power, reliability, and smoothness out of my build. Cost isn't an issue for any serious builder. I could go buy a brand new 2011 civic si and get the k24 already built this way, but I wouldn't have the satisfaction of knowing it has my ideas/theories/work in it.

Tell more about your build... The reason why I say is, the last F22 I built NA made 292whp and retains factory ignition. I don't see any "break up" happening with my tune. I also have yet to get rid of my factory ignition on my H22 program... No issues there either.

I do agree there may be some small benifits, but that is a lot of money to spend.

Hondata just came out with a COP system and is reported to work very good unlike the Tiawan system above which have known issues.
