    wrinkle or textured high heat green valve cover paint

    I wanted to paint my valve cover wrinkle textured green. AS close ot arcadia green as i could find. NO such luck as vht doesn't make a green. I have checked some other places like rustoleum but not high heat. I might just do wrinkle black or leave it bare polished aluminum if i can't find a textured green to match. Anyone know?

    Your best bet is to get it powder coated. They can add texture and pretty much do any color.

      I just had one powder coated candy blue for my Element. They (at least the guys I've used) can be a bit persnickety about the oil that may still be in the baffles.

        Nice word! But that's about average on powder coaters and welders. They want/need a clean canvas. I would take the valve cover to a machine shot, have them hot tank it then take it to the powder coaters. Though, not sure why they care about the baffles as they are only spraying the outside of the valve cover.

          I think i am going to do the polished aluminum look for now. If i don't like i can then paint i guess.
          Is there powder coats in a can. Was looking more for a arcadia green wrinkle but vht don't have that.

            If the oil/sludge isn't cleaned out, it may soften and flow (maybe even smoke) while baking the powder - don't want it flowing onto the coated surfaces; I think the temperature is around 400 degrees.

              Powder coating is where they spray a special powder onto the surface and I believe electrically charge it. Then put it in an oven and bake it for so long and it adheres to the surface. It’s holds up to high temps and is very durable. It’s nothing like spray can. It will probably run you around 100 bucks. But you. An get your Arcadia green.

                Photo added above. I also had an F22 cover done in gloss black - haven't installed it yet. Edit: Opened Ruby's hood the other day - I guess I did install it!

                Persnickety = showing my age?

                They electrically charge the part to attract the powder. I did have it hot tanked before having it coated. The single color coat was $75, which included removing what was left of the original coating.

                  I would do a test piece to be sure, but you might get away with painting the piece with black wrinkle paint first then painting that with the exact green you want. It won't be as wrinkly as if it was just one layer, but it is certainly cheaper than powdercoating.
