90 ex 1st and 5th gear wont stay, 3rd is out

third gear dosent work just grinds, and now 1st and 5th wont stay unless you hold in gear. Is it worth fixing the transmission or should i just swap it out for another?

i'm assuming 2nd and 4th and Reverse is working ok?

with 3rd gear grinding, and 1 and 5 not staying in .. i'm going to point at your cables are bad(which might be the cheapest fix) but if 3rd is grinding, that could be your sycros going bad too .. combination of both perhaps?
