ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    fuel gauge is a liar!

i drive a 91 ex and ever since the car was given to me i noticed a problem...the fuel gauge wasn't accurate! at times it will say that i have 1/2 a talk, 10 minutes later it will say 1/4 tank..and sometimes it will even say i have 1/8! then it will go back up to a quarter..well you get the point.. the question is how do i fix it without going aftermarket?

    fuel sending unit.

test it with an ohmmeter. you can access from a panel that's under the rear seat.

get a haynes manual for the instructions on the full procedure. later.

        couple things just FYI

our tanks are square...so 1/2 tank isn't really 1/2...also, you'll notice that after 1/2 your fuel level will drop off faster than pre 1/2 level...cause of that.

when the car leans forward (going down hill) your gauge will show less fuel than actual

when the car leans backward (uphill) your gauge will show having more fuel.

That is normal...acceleration will also make the gauge go up...and stopping will make it show low. I notice this all the time. So only worry when it is outside that realm of normalcy

          its normal to fluctuate.
dont worry too much unless you fill up and it read less than full. then you know there is a problem with the sending unit.

if i have a half-tank in the car and i do some hard accelerating, it can drop by as much as a quarter-tank. after the car comes to rest it levels off and goes back to where it should be.
