PROPS from unlikely people thread...

as most of us know alot of people IE: domestic and VW owners, etc. like to hate on our beloved 90-93 accords,

this thread might be a hit or a miss, but list occasions where you've gotten unlikely people to admit they actually like you're car... , instead of the usual "you're car is old" or "you drive a honda are you a ricer?" comments people make. especially if they were won over after being in the car ...

examples :

-My buddy owns a TDI , he payed way to much for it , and his turbo broke, and one night i got him to admit he actually likes my car and that it's in "Good shape" even after he repeatedly stated he'd "never buy a honda"

-Another buddy of mine likes low rider type cars, and drives a Buick Regal with spoke rims, very "pimpin" ... once he drove around with my in my car he was like "man i actually like this car...."

- I was dating this girl who was sorta country, she drove some kinda muscle'y truck, and was all about "Chevy". At first she wasn't sure about my car. then we went driving.. . we were downtown and we pulled up next to a brand new civic with vtec. Sure enough me and the civc race and i end up beating him by a bit. with a car thats obviously way older then his . Immediately after that the girl goes.... "I like this car" . hahaha

My buddy had an 04 GLI. He loved that car, and always bragged about how fast it was.

He complimented my car when it beat him down the quarter mile

I think everyone thats been in my car has given it props, even though they were skeptical at first.

Most notable ones i guess would be.

-Hardcore Nissan and 240sx guy (makes cars that run 11's) went for a cruise in my car and was genuinely impressed, it put a smile on his face.

-Big VW guy and auto crosser didnt think much of my accord, mainly *rice* and swapped Hondas are still shitty. until I let him drive it. Then he drove it and was impressed with the overall feel of the car, he said quote "I would get in a lot of trouble with a daily driver like this".

one of my friend have a 95 camery nice looks alot nicer than my old white accord and she had only 80,000 miles on it while mine had around 312,000 on it.

she said my car is rides far smoother and the seats is better.



my mom dries a 2000 ford tarus and was impressed that my car have quite a bit of power for a mid sized four cylinder, while hers is a v6

and best of all, my dad he HATES imports. i overheard him telling my grandpa that for a little car it got got pep and RUNS incrediable lol.
my sis told me one time when my dad took her to school my dad ripped the ebrake in my car lol. he loves that part.+


also with my old car with over 300,000 miles everybody told me i need a new car and i should junk it. after they rode they stop telling me that lolz.

My singer, who isn't really a car guy (but always took pride in his old 84 Chevette when he had it) rode in both my CB7 and my GTP. The GTP has considerably more torque (280 vs. the CB7's 170, perhaps), and at least 20 more horsepower. However, when talking to our drummer about my cars, he said "the Pontiac is pretty quick, but that Honda will throw you back in your seat! that thing is crazy!"

i'm jealous... you guys are so lucky... no one ever compliments my car (other than the people that have to). I'll spend 2 hours cleaning my car at a show. I'll walk away to go to the Bathroom and people will come up to eric and either ask about it or say something. this has happened twice to me. One guy even thought the car was erics becuase he had seen it in his drive way before.

I use to love when people complemented eric's accord and then were suprised to find out that it was actually an old accord. I recall this happening once at a car show and then once by some old ford lover at an auto parts store.

I miss that car.

The lopey idle I have gets me a bit of props from the local domestic guys. They say it sounds like I have an LT1, ha.
Dsm guys generally say Im one of the only good hondas, because I have a dsm heart transplant.
I get lots of random, "damn, that thing doesnt sound like a honda" comments as well.

I was waiting to go through emissions in my CD5, and I was waiting in line forever, so I got out and stood against the wall and talked to one of the other dudes that was waiting, and we were talking about my car and he asked how old it was. I said it was a 94, and he said "Damn, I would have guessed it was a 2000 at least, its really nice."

ive hadd random pple offer to buy my car

one day i was on the 710 coming from the pike and it was trafic like a mofo! sum guy was onside of me and he was like "hey what year is that?" i said 92 he was like "dont those come with a h22?" i was like naw just a good ol f22 then he asked me if i wanted to sell...i was like how much would u give me? then the foo said 1500...i smiled and said "naw im good" and started to roll up my window then he was like "1800" i declined again and drove off


then another day i was at the gas station and sum irabian guy came up tryin to buy it...i could hardly understand him

and now that i have the dsm setup pple look at me funny when im drivin around

I had an 04.5 GLI w/ the 1.8t

"quick" for lack of better word, but not fast at all.

I love the way they look and handle, but too expensive for what they offer.

i spent 8 bills on my rims and i have gotten alot of compliments. the latest one was at a light. this guy (which is now a part of my team) in his nice EG rolled down the window and told me that i had badass rims.then 10 min later at the mall this guy walking to his teggy and i was parking and he told me i had new wheels.

those 800 bones are worth every penny.

when i had my kit i used to get props all the time. best comment was guy:"what kind of car is that!?" me:"honda accord" guy:"thats a honda." i swear this guy said it like "I" was wrong and he was going to tell "ME" what kind of car it was! not as much props now i guess my car appeals to more of a specific crowd as opposed to the general public. although the other day when i was trying to find a place to align my car (no luck) every place i went i got the exact same response " naw, cant get that on my lift, but it looks good!". i even had a guy ask me what i did to drop it, he had a newer accord.
