this might be a noobish question, but why is this necessary to do? like what is the point of it, and what would happen if you don't do it? Thanks

you change it because...well it need to be changed. the boots are ripped and all the grease leaks out...and if you dont change it, over time your steering wheel will lock in place and you wont be able to turn your steering wheel at all which is bad if youre on the freeway or something

what symptoms did you feel that made you replace the rack?

steering was a bit tougher...like i needed both hands to turn the steering wheel quickly...not as bad as without power steering but it was getting kinda bad...i looked underneath and notice the boot on the passenger side was torn so i replaced it.

a couple of people are running new R&P without power steering and i dont think theyve had a problem...jed (ssdh22accord) is one of them...at auto zome the R&P would be about $200

gdout, even though you disconnected your p/s pump, its a good idea to leave a feed line to the R&P so it won't run out of fluid. Otherwise, it'll run dry and you'll be in the same situation again.

I have a whine when I turn my car around corners, does that sound more like R/P or P/S pump?

Where did you get your rack for $119? The cheapest I can find is like $200.

Is there any way to upgrade out steering rack to get a better turn ratio?

                              Anyone done it?

                              Any companies?

                              Probably is another DIY

Don't think so. The CB does have a pretty big turn radius.
