ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

90-93 trunk swap.....

    90-93 trunk swap.....

I've got a 90 lx coupe and I don't like the way the tail lights on the trunk look in comparison to the 92/93.
    1. Is it possible to put say a 93 10th Ann. trunk on a 90? Is it a direct bolt on?
    2. Now the red/clear tails are obviously very different as well because the colors are inverted; what is the best way to add the 93 trunk but have the lights red/clear proportioned correctly?

Thanks a lot for the info.......

im not 100% sure but i think it wont line up right.

edit: go to a junkyard and try to test it on some cb7s there if you can.

Yes just take your 90 trunk lid off, and put the 92/93 trunk lid on and bolts everything back up in reverse order. Definitely helps to have a 2nd person to hold it while you take he last bolt off that holds the lid up.

As far as tail lights you can just order some red/clear tail lights for 92/93(amazon,ebay, or junkyard). Pretty simple swap over.

The hardest part is taking out the little wire that pops open the trunk but all in all very simple swap.

Awesome thanks. Now if the weather will cooperate this is going to be my first of many, many, many upgrade and changes to my 90 lx. I've got a descent 93 10th trunk I got on an impulse without even knowing if I could do the swap. Thanks guys!.

One other thing, is there a difference in the 90/91 front bumper covers vs the 92/93?
Sorry for all the stupid questions.

I did this swap on my 90 sedan before my wagon ... used a 93 lid and it fit perfect ..
Only trouble was getting the lock out of the 90 lid to put into the 93 lid ..
I forget how we did it but Alex (I forget his screen name) helped a TON! wish I knew where that dude was today.
You still out there Alex? lol .. Miss that guy man ...

Yes, there is definitely a difference between the front bumper covers. To change from one to the other, you also need headlights, corner lights, and grille for everything to match up.

This is not 100% correct. You need to make sure it is a trunk lid from a sedan and not a coupe. The coupe lights curve into the license plate. Where as the sedan has the plate and rounds out the lights.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, the 92/93 lid that I had on my 90 sedan was from a coupe ...

                  edit: found it ..

That is a coupe trunk no doubt. But they were saying if you want aftermarket tail lights you need to get a sedan trunk. There are no offerings of aftermarket tail lights for the coupes.

Yes I was referring to red/clear tails.

ahhhh .. ok .. yeah. I was never a fan of the red-clears. I love the coupe's tails better.
That 90 and 91 tail-light set up was fuuuugly lol ..

So I need the Sedan trunk instead of the coupe correct? I want the tails that round up before the license plate area, that is a sedan correct? just making sure.

Have you checked out or read this sticky on the trunk swap thread? Photobucket recently changed their "3rd party hosting" thing, but the directions are a good read. It's what I followed when I swapped my trunk. Even tells how to swap the lock over.

You also need the bumper support. They are different between 90-91 and 92-93. I've had them sitting next to each other before to compare.
