ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Bad inner tie rod?

This is my friends car. hes over here today so I'm just posting it for him.

Pretty much it makes this squeak when you turn or bounce the car

i figured it was the inner tie rod since that's the only part that could do it together and that hasn't been replaced.

Both the upper and lower balljoint and outer tie rods have been replaced within the past 5000 miles.

Also the steering rack bellow boot broke on this side of the car which just adds more evidence to that component being bad.

This problem just occurred. It did not progressively get worse it just started one day.

heres a quick video and ignore my friends lovely comment

lift up the car. Wriggle the wheel at 12 and 6 oclock - if play = bad bearing
        9 and 3 oclock = bad tierod

pull on tie rod if play = bad inner tie rod

I'd double check and make sure the boots for the LBJs are still intact. That's exactly what mine sounded like when they were going. Maybe you have accelerated wear?

              They're almost new balljoints though.

If the inner tie rod boot is ripped is almost guaranteed that the inner tie rod is junk. The alignment shop wouldn't align my car until I replaced mine, since the boot was ripped and the inner rod wore right out.

It was ripped but we replaced it. Its been replaced for months. I still feel its the inner tie rod knowing all the other work we've done though.

That time spent ripped could've accelerated the wear. You might be spot on with your diagnosis.

So we took the car apart today to change the tie rod and found out that the shitty TAS suspension restoration kit balljoint has already failed

it feels horrible if you move it around by hand and it makes a grinding noise. The boot was also broken on it. Not sure how it happened but it was.
