    205/65r15 or 195/65r15

hi there this is a quick question:

    honda accord dx 1990

    Can I replace my tires 195/65r15 for tires 205/65/r15 ? or for 195/60r15 ?

would the trans or engine will suffer if so?

    thanks

I don't think you want to use 205 width tires, even if they physically can mount onto the stock 5.5" inch wheel, the sidewalls will be bulging way out. Ride quality and handling will suffer (and it might not even be safe).

You can use a shorter sidewall like a 60 profile tire but your speedometer will be off a little bit, and you are basically shortening your gearing. It's not going to hurt anything.

195/60/15 is actually the OEM size on the 15s. So the tires you have are actually larger than they should be. So your speedometer is already slightly off. I'd stick with OEM size....205/65/15 will definitely be way too big for stock wheels.

you want 205/50/15, 65 would be beefy

width of tread patch in mm/percentage of tread width%/rim size in inches

i ran some 215/60/15's because i had to, they were bridgestone take offs, they rubbed the unibody at full lock

I ended up staying with 195/65r15 ... I picked 4 195/60r15 but before buying them I realized the wire thing on the inside was visible. I found two 195/65r15 almost brand new at the yard for 20 CAD each !

I am planning on doing the alignment soon.
