The Truth About Engine Oil Consumption in a Modern Car | Auto Expert John Cadogan

Interesting point and vid on vehicles oil consumption. I know the 09 Acura TSX had a known issue for oil consumption. Can read about it on carcompaints.com too. But it had me thinking do all major players have cars that burn oil?

i know from experience that GM LS engines are prone to sludging and some models are notorious for excessive oil consumption even under 100k miles; i have heard of certain instances where 1 QT per 1k miles was considered as "normal" according to GM standards. As rings are getting thinner to reduce friction and improve power/efficiency something has to give i guess.

Not to mention oil dilution. This is already a problem with Honda's 1.5 turbo.
