So for a few months I had been talking to a friend of mine about buying her old 1993 Honda Accord that had been sitting at her house not being driven. I was going to buy it around November/December, but with Christmas around the corner, I had to save some money. Well, I finally looked at it in January and $350 and an older Nikon D3000 (worth about $250-300) later, and I traded her.

Then this is her cleaned up:
As expected, it came with its problems. As you can see in the pictures, the passenger side rear quarter was hit and had poor body work done. The driver side has a small side swipe too. The paint all over has almost no clear coat left, but I didn't buy it to be a show car, I bought it to be a cheap daily driver. Also, it has NO rust aside from the exhaust of course, but even the exhaust is super clean with no leaks.
Issues I've discovered (so far) :
- Dead battery (Autozone charged for me)
- TCU had the typical burnt resistor (she thought the transmission was done, but I had a hunch it was just the TCU, and I was right)
- Small valve cover oil leak
- Motor mounts needed (rough shifts into drive/reverse)
- 2 power windows don't work
- Passenger CV axle and wheel bearing needed (I think)
- Suspension needs work, but not urgent
- Front tires=50% Rear tires=25%
- Inside passenger door handle broken
- Probably needs timing belt/water pump done
- Doesn't like to turn over on first try
- ABS light on but brakes work fine
Done (so far) :
- Haynes manual $12
- TCU replaced $65
- Oil & filter $30
- Air filter $10
- Cleaned up $free
Total cash invested*: $467
*Includes car cost but not the Nikon traded
