Just did this today. Picked up both props for $10. We chose to drill with a 3/8 and use a nut on the backside since the hinge is so thin. Works perfectly, thanks for the DIY.

So, for those "pitch" and bolt challenged....

                  This is basically:
                  Legend props
                  -OR-
                  18mm 350mm/225mm props
                  10mm/12mm bolts

                  1 bolt on the fender
                  drill/tap into prop ball
                  bolt to hood

                  Correct?

i'd still put the oem hood prop up for fear of a 20lb hood making me part of a sandwhich.

it wont work the props, raise the hood farther that the hood prop

btw if u get good shocks u wont have to fear the hood falling down

try pressing down on the shocks by ur self i u cant the shocks are good

Anybody do this to their trunk? I have a 91 for my daughter, and someone took the springs to make room for 6x9's. If not I will try to do a DIY when I do it. I'm not messing with putting j/y springs back in there. Kind of a pain

I got a pair of hood shocks from an Acura Legend the other day, with brackets. I played around with positioning them for nearly an hour and found no way that I could possibly make them fit without having them hit the closed hood.

                              I'm not getting it.

                              That said,

this is probably what I'm going to do. I already know where I'll mount the shock, and ideally, I'll hook an alarm solenoid up to my trunk release cable so I can remotely open my trunk. The gas shocks seem to really put out a lot of thrust, so I guess I'm a little weary to use them on my poor trunk latch. But, we'll see.

Maybe I'll do it this weekend if we finish painting my new trunk lid.
