ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

This sounds similar to a problem I had in the past.
For me, my throttle cable was too tight. It should have 10 mm of play.
Check and make sure your's is within spec.

Then, check for any vacuum leaks.

The car should not accelerate when in neutral. If it did you have transmission issues.

The engine can rev higher, but you should not accelerate in neutral.

Lets us know if you meant something else.

aleks1215, please give us a little more information on the problem.
Was it a slow acceleration, or a 6k run-till-she-blows type thing?

My wife's LX would cruise by its self around 30-35. It turned out to be a vacuum line coupled with dirty IACV that was making it idle at 2000.

How is your idle? Any previous problems/ known existing problems?

He said UNTIL he put it in neutral

OP - Does it idle normally when you start the car, Or are the revs excessively high?

But the car was still accelerating until it turned off by itself. Shouldn't do that in neutral, sounds like something was still engaged to me...

I just had install an alarm system with the auto starter.

I was at the highway, and i was going to pass an old lady and i accelerate all the way, but the car didnt stop when i stop accelerating, when i put it in neutral the idle when all the way to seven or eight. I was trying to stop the car with both breaks, i couldnt turn it off right away because i had started it with self started so the key wasnt working so once i got it to stop i couldnt turn it off. I thought the car was going to blow up since i just put it in parking but the idle was on seven or eight, but the car shut off automatictly.

Check your throttle cable, maybe even pop off the intake pipe and look at the metal plate inside the throttle body. It should stay closed via a spring mechanism until opened by the throttle cable.

Dont these plates get held open by built up gunk in the throttle body?

It is possible, thats why I suggested he remove the intake pipe and look at the throttle-body plate, its also possible the spring loading mechanism to keep it shut failed too. If in fact his throttlebody has failed, I would suggest if he already hasn't to do an h22/h23 plenum & tb swap, provided the engine underneath the hood is the one that came with it from the factory.
