ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I had SE 6x9 rear pods in my LX coupe, which was originally 6.5's. I had some big JL speakers mounted in the 6x9 pods. They fit just fine.

I am dealing with that same issue as well. I was trying to figure out how to put the 92 6x9s in my 91 LX and just don't fit right then I looked at the pods and they don't match either lol. Kinda a PITA

Pods from a PnP/Junkyard is your best bet. Looks cleaner too.
You may also have to cut a few mm off your trunk spring ends to clear the speaker. My Kicker magnets were just slightly in the way, and my buddies 6" 1/2 magnets were even to big.

Anybody else run into this issue, or have to do this?

They are Kicker KS690...3-3/16"(8.1cm). Still had the boxes, lol.
Pictured here is the 6x9 with the spring cut(Right Side), and the bar is a mm away from the magnet, these things just fit in here,

DX/LX came with 6.5", if you want to have 6x9's you need pods from an EX/SE.

I'm sure I could have just bent the lip on the speaker, but I wanted to do it right. The speakers are 3-way Pioneers; TS-A6970R.
Here are some quick photos showing the modifications I made to the stock box. The foam is weather stripping cut from a roll I picked up at the local home improvement store.

go to a pick and pull and get the ex 6X9 speaker pod's it dosent matter if they match the color of your interior you can always paint them. just bring a phillips head and a 10mm socket with you.

Ive always had issues fitting 6x9's in the pods. No speakers ive ever installed in the pods have fit nicely. Anyone ever make a custom rear deck cover to mount 6x9's in to to do away with the pods? Btw DanCan where is your amp mounted? Do you have another pic of your setup?

Cant wait to see! I have contemplated this every time I've installed a set in the "new" cb7 ive just brought home lol. Maybe I should stop selling them every time i do enough work and they start lookong nice. Also seriously contemplated just making a whole rear deck cover from mdf and screwing and glueing it to the rear deck to get rid of vibrations/rattles.
