ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Narrowband sensors/gauges are usually no more than a pretty light show, from my experience. I suppose it would show if you were running extremely lean, at least.

You're right about open loop being richer than closed loop, since it's safer to run rich than lean. Still, depending on HOW rich it is, it may prove to be detrimental to performance. The extra air allowed by the larger manifold and IAB system won't be much of a help if the ECU just ends up overfueling! It could cause an issue when going WOT as well, transitioning from a relatively lean closed-loop operation to a richer open loop fueling map.

OR, the added fuel in the pre-set fuel map might be perfect for the increased intake volume...

Exactly my point, the title of this thread is deceiving. This does not run them correctly, as the title says.

Exactly. I think maximum power is generally made at around 13.5:1 air fuel ratio, at least for a naturally aspirated engine.

It should be noted that OEM fuel calibrations often go richer than this at WOT, but this is done for catalyst protection, not additional power. The richer mixture cools the exhaust temperatures and keeps the catalyst from getting too hot during extended WOT operation.

most people get rid of the bypass valve, but they leave the plug dangling. also, not every model comes with the valve - I think it is only automatics? or was it only EXs?
My 5-speed '90 DX had the valve and wiring. Removed the resonator and valve but kept the wiring. This is good news! I still have an H23 IM i have yet to install. Knowing this makes things simpler.

Yup, you're hurting low end by having them open that low, and by not having the proper fuel and timing.
