ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Fixed dent how much for repaint?

So when i fist got my baby she came with a really deep dent on the right side/ door. i went to a body shop and they wanted to charge me 700 to fix it : so i put it off, then one day some 2 greeks guy offered to fix the dent for 200, i think it was a good price because even the door was dented.so i did since it was like 500bucks cheaper, but now i have a big gray spot on my right side and was wondering how much would it cost to get it painted the stock color i have right now. here are some pics of how the side looks now fixed.

I'm gonna say about $325 for it to be professionally blended into adjacent panels.

u shoudl at least fix that spot above the wheel while you are at it. no use painting the 1/4 when stuff is still jacked up onit. if anything else is bad on the door or w/e might as well fix that and paint it all the same color.

I work at a body shop and it really depends on the paint (waterbase) or your basic paint (close but not exact)

size of the damage blocked and primer

paint blend if they know how

the whole side of the car recleared 500 to be fair he is just trying to either scare you with the price or over charging

$700 is about right for most reputable bodyshop.

The whole quarter panel will need to be clear, the door will need to be blend into... so pretty much the whole side will need paint/clear.

Most price from a shop should be about $500-$750.

we just did a new jetta about 8.5 body and paint of work color matched with waterbased paint blended and front recleared 900 bucks.

only thing that sucks is you lost that body line on the quarter panel. I think I would of taken the hit to the wallet for the sake of the cb.

Here is our Coupe cleaned...I have no money at this time to paint it. Job was done at a body shop in Newhall next to the Metrolink tracks at about 15th. (San Fernando is now called Newhall) that's not too far from you.

I posted a low price because I completely forgot about labor haha I work in a school and since the students don't get paid, you only pay for paint, materials, and 15%. For something like that we would charge about $325. Hell we just fixed a CD5 with about that same amount of damage and it came out to $285.

Ok well, coming from an auto body tech point of view. This would be the time to repaint the whole car. 700 is a very reasonable price, but if you don't want to pay a lot just go get a matching can of spray paint and blend it in yourself. The less you spend the crappier it will look, generally. Honestly though, all you would have to do is get the rear 1/4 and the door painted and you'd be good, 350 bucks would be reasonable at this point in the painting project. That is of course if the body work looks good in person.

^^that's wat I'm saying. Get the whole car painted after u fix that tiny dent above wheel well.

I think and others, even tho they didn't post, feel as if its better and cheaper to get the whole dam thing painted.

it looks like they did a good job on it . the only thing that really grabs my attention is that part of the body line above the moulding is missing now so its gonna look like a repair.what you could do in the meantime is primer the whole area again and wait for paint. Autozone does have the color matching paint for us but the little cans that they come in is not nearly enough for seven dollars and the spray pattern that the tip has sucks and WILL cause bubbling.Try a napa ,they selll paint and will have it professionally mixed
