ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Exhaust Questions

    1. I had to cut the bolts on my cat when I put my megan racing header on because they were so rusted. The cuts weren't perfect so I have a slight exhaust leak now. How free flowing is the stock cat? Is it worth keeping? Would it be worth getting an after market cat? Are the ebay ones good enough?

    A cat like this..

    2. Can I rip out the exhaust heat shield? It rattles like a bitch and I would love to just rip it out, does it really prevent that much heat? Would I cause any problems by removing it?

*The heat shield under the car, not the the exhaust manifold shield.

    Thanks

            about your cat question

the factory cat does restrict your exhaust so going with a " high flow" cat from e-bay is the way i went and i'm happy with it, besides a replacment cat is more expensive.

No it doesn't unless your car runs like complete shit and clogged you cat, your better off keeping the stock one.

MagnaFlow has some cats as well as CatCO IIRC

if ur stock cat isn't completly bagged out, u should be able to punch the studs in the cat out and replace them with bolts, nuts and lock washers...

I've never done exhaust work on my car, a new cat is just a bolt-on mod right? No cutting or welding?

Magnaflow makes replacement high flow cat. Ebay ones aren't true cats.

as for the cat, go with something worth the purchase, i had them ebay ones on my integra and it was ok, i now have the magnaflow cat on my cb7 and im glad i bought it..., the heat shield should be able to come off with a twist of a few bolts....
