ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    New project!

I have been reading and researching for quite some time. I have a 91 cb9 EX. It is all original and in pretty good shape. It has been a daily for a few years and has been virtually problem free. But I purchased this ride to restore and bring it to the next level. Handling is my first concern. But power, and aesthetics are important. I am planning on spending around $3000. I want to build a sleeper. I live in Kitsap County in western Washington. I would like to meet other people who are in the area and also here. All comments and suggestions are very welcome. I have built many different types of vehicles and I really want to restore this car. Thanks for reading this and I really enjoy reading all of the threads.
    Thanks again.

Welcome! Typical car guy (or gal; gotta be considerate)... can't leave 'well enough' alone.

Handling, huh? Good power but nothing unusable? Sounds like maybe you're into my kind of driving...

$3000 will get you handling or power with these cars, not so much both. It'll actually take you a long way in handling and brakes, fortunately, even with the quality brands. But getting the ball rolling with power takes more involvement than with other engines. In my mind, "sleeper" hints at power more than anything else, and 3k will afford a low-mileage (i.e. hmotorsonline.com) H22A swap with maybe some basic bolt-ons, and that's probably the best bang-for-the-buck. Or, if you know your F22 to be in tip-top, a well planned low-pressure turbo setup? Rebuilding an old engine can eat up half that budget easy, as I'm sure you know.
