ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

gota love junkyards, and intercooler question

So i just got back from the junkyard, picked up a front lip (off of a 10th anniversary) and got me the starting parts for my boost project, the manifold, injectors, bov, and some intercooler piping(all from a 1g dsm) Now i wondering about the dsm intercooler i know its small and not too good at cooling, I was thinking if you hook up 2 of them in sequence one in each fender if it would work better or if it would even be worth, I'm trying to stay away from a fmic because i don't want to hack up the bumper.

I actually thought about doing that myself... however, it's going to be a lot of complicated piping (which will be a bitch to route), and it will very likely cost you quite a bit of power forcing the air through all that piping, as well as 2 intercoolers. It's worth a shot, but it may not do very much. I'd be interested to see it done, though!

Wouldnt be too complicated on the piping it would be done the same was as if u were running the piping to the fmic, and i belive it would be about the same about of travel, I think the hardest thing to do if done is to build some channels that will dirrect the air to the coolers, I think im going to try it out, my junkyard prices are cheap, I paid $25 for all i got today,

Intercooler's are cheap enough to buy new nowadays.
I imagine the flow/pressure loss using 2 of the small dsm coolers will be quite substantial.
If you can try find an Evo intercooler at the junkyard you would be better using that.

No Evos will be found at junkyards here... we didn't get them until the Evo8, and those suckers still sell for $10,000+ used! The wrecked ones go to the big yards... the "recyclers", that dismantle the cars and catalog the parts... and charge a substantial amount for them. There may be evo intercoolers in tuner cars, though. Still, they'd be front mounts, right? That's taking things in a different direction.

Of course, if we're talking cheap front mounts... Any car that came stock with a front mount (like the SRT-4) will often be upgraded, and the fmic will be sold. Ebay, forums, etc... will be good for those. Also, a Mitsubishi Fuso intercooler works pretty well. Small, but easy enough to come by.

              I always forget that!!
Supra intercooler is worthwhile, though I suppose that's also out of the question.

In reality, if you are doing a DSM setup using all original parts, I'm assuming your doing it on a budget which probably means your looking to use a 14B turbo.

The amount of heat this turbo generates requires a descent size intercooler to minimize the effect of a blowtorch.
Even if you use a 16G there is a fair amount of heat created.
Less heat means more reliability and more power for the sake of less than $200.
