Alternator problems 1993 Honda Accord EX

So I just bought another 1993 Honda Accord EX and have no problems with it other then this. When started the alternator will whine but yet always keeps a steady charge at 14.7 volts while running. Just put a brand new battery in there for good measure as I didn't know how old the cheapie battery was that came with the car. My question is why would it whine like this when its giving a full charge? The lights and when everything is on its all as bright as can be.

    could be the pulley bearings
Wife: "Why do you get G power platinum and i only get V power?"
Me:"Cause i have the high compression 93 octane only H22 and you have the bullet proof F22."
    Wife:........................"But yours are prettier"

    ---------------------------------------------------
Wife:Baby, not everybody wants to do the 93 conversion"
Me:YES THEY DO, THEY JUST DON'T KNOW IT YET.

Bad bearings would cause the alternator to make noise even if its still putting out a charge.

Could be just worn out, or maybe the belt was adjusted too tight (which will put extra load on bearings).

Alternator whine? Through your speakers or is the alternator physically making noise?

If speakers, then you have a ground loop problem.

If physical, what those guys said.

Thank you for your help everyone. I changed out the alternator with a brand new not reman Denso unit. Started up the car no whine at all for the first 30 minutes then after driving for a while the same whine came back. Brand new alternator and battery. What could this be? Maybe a ground issue?

Does the belt look worn? Is it dry and cracking?

I would have just replaced the belts while I had the whole thing apart. It makes sense since the belts are cheap and easy to replace.

I agree with lbus9168, definitely try replacing the belt.

If you do replace the belt and it continues, maybe check to make sure the tensioner isn't backing out just enough to produce the same whine each time.

maybe clean the glaze thats formed on the pulleys now.. brake cleaner, wire brush..even take off the belt and wash it inside with hot water and dawn and a scrubber, cold rinse. then return the other alternator
