ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    wiring for brake lights

so my passenger side running light/brake light has some wiring issues somewhere....i've replaced the bulb, the harness, the wiring back as far as i can possibly reach, and i'm now at the point where i just want it to work....

can i just splice into the driver's side wiring for this and run it across since running/brake light *should* be the same?

i hate wiring but i'm trying to learn, thanks in advance!

It will light up, but may reduce the light output and give you a bulb out dash light... There may be a way around both issues, or they may be non-issues...

there may be a way around both issues? what would that be? could i add anything to the wiring to keep it bright? maybe change the bulbs to low output led?

I had a similar problem. Turned out that my socket had some corrosion and the contacts were bent in.

Try prying the contacts gently out and using a litle sandpaper to freshen the surface. 600 grit will do or anything 400 and above. Put some dielectric on afterwards and see if that works.

already replaced the socket with a used one, and then a brand new oem one....neither helped so the problem is further up somewhere....

So follow it and find out where . . .

Have you checked how much resistance between the socket negative and earth?

If at first you don't succeed, Try again. Don't give up too easily, persistance pays off in the end.

I agree with Evil Demon 01. First thing first, make sure you are even getting power to the light socket. Also, if you put an LED bulb in your brake lights you will need a resistor or the car will think the bulb is missing because they use such little power and offer very little resistance.
