ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Starting problem

Hello! I've been a browser for quite sometime and problems occurred so I'll be posting this thread!

Alright, I've had my 1992 Accord LX for about 2 years. It ended up sitting around since last August. The battery ended up dying out on me. I got a new battery, hooked it up backwards like an idiot I then realized since I couldn't get the one terminal on. I turned it around, hooked it up again and... nothing.
I had no intentions in messing around with it until today. I thought the guy might have given me a wrong size battery since there was some room left in the tray. Turns out, he did. So I get this other battery and it fits in snug. I make sure I didn't put the battery in wrong again. Now, nothing... still.

I look around and noticed by the fuse box, a wire is all nasty and crispy looking. It's like white creamy stuff (nothing from my reproductive system!)

I am car retarded and would like to know what this is called and if it can be replaced without an arm and a leg.

Crappy cell phone pics, but you get the idea!

Thanks guys! I want my CB7 up and running again!

That is dielectric grease. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

Regarding your starting issues, have you checked all of your fuses? Main relay? Cleaned all of your battery/starter/alternator terminals?

Alright, so that wire is fine then? Haha, well I'll check all of the fuses and what not, how do I know if they're bad or broken? I'm not joking when I say I'm car retarded!

Thanks a lot so far though.

check your 80 amp battery fuse. You probably blew it. It that big square looking fuse that you can pretty much see the filament when installed.

When you install the battery backwards you're usually going to blow something, in most cases, just a fuse.
