EXT: A Complete USDM Black Housing DIY W/ PICS!!! (56K Be Warned!!!)
welp. since i'm not done with the grill/bumperlights/corners, this is how my car sits outside my closed garage. minus the grill now because its on my bed.
the grill and headlights i did this past weekend. it was soo easy.
anyway. here
note - grill was just thrown on, and hood is not closed.
25. *Optional; If you want the JDM Yellow High Beam Look, then apply two light coats of the yellow stained glass paint to the high beam side only.
If you're about to yellow your high beams, follow that advice and paint only TWO LIGHT COATS. I sprayed far too many coats of yellow on mine and managed to get some curtains in the paint. Follow his advice rather than making my mistake. If you do get a curtain though, just wipe off the yellow paint quickly with lacquer thinner. The lacquer thinner can take off the black house paint too though, so be careful.
Great write up though, you inspired me to black house my headlights, shown in my signature pic. Thanks!
nice, real nice . how long did it take from start to finish?
If you count the drying period, between 2-3 hours. Depending on how long you allow the paint to dry between coats. Just pick a day off, wake up mad early, like when the sun comes out, and go to work. It always helps to go through the steps the night before. You should have them done by lunch time.
im going to have to
