ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    ELD Problem

Hey guys I'm having issues with my Accord. I am having issues with my electrical system not wanting to completely charge everything, what I mean is running w/o lights on I have no issues but when I turn on the blower fans or the lights(headlights/running lights or brake lights) my motor get hot. When I am stopped at a light i have to use the emergency brake to keep my motor cool as it doesn't use my taillights, I have replaced the fuse box twice but i am guessing that both fuse boxes ELD has failed. I have also tested the alternator at Autozone and they said that the regulator has failed would the ELD give that response for their system or is it at the alternator? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the ELD is primarily there to detect electrical load to help the ECM maintain an appropriate idle speed - I don't see how a malfunctioning ELD would cause the engine to overheat. If your car is overheating, first make sure there is enough coolant in the system, check that your fans are operating correctly, check (or go ahead and change it) the thermostat.

I think your car isn't overheating, I think you have a bad ground that's making your temperature gauge go up, if electrical components sre making it overheat, that would be my guess. Check your grounds !
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.

I have tightened down all the grounds/felt for melted or burnt sections of my grounds to see if maybe bad wire or something along those lines. I did notice today on my way home that the idle dropped to about 500 rpm and started to get warm maybe in the 190/200 range, but otherwise it didn't act weird today.

When you say 500, you mean all the way down to the large mark just above zero? That first mark above zero is actually 500, normal idle speed should be right around 750.

It was idling around around the about 3/4 of the way to the one on my rpm gauge and dropped idle to about half of the 1 and 0

the first one, about 3/4 of the way to 1000rpm is approximately the correct place for it to idle. the correct idle speed is 750rpm. like was said previously, the first thick white mark is 500rpm then goes up to 1000rpm in 100rpm increments. if it dropped to halfway that sounds like it is possibly a little low, hard to tell without seeing it

Check your negative battery cable. A bad one can overwork the alternator.

Well update guys, I have walked to Autozone to get a fresh alternator from them put it in and not much change... 4G as to what you said where the ground bolts to the motor is a little split apart. What i mean is that instead of it being tightly wound like a new one from honda is it is more fanned out

I was mistaken it idles around 1200ish and when it drops to 750 it gets warm, i may have a parasitic drain somewhere and when it finally stops pulling it idles down to stop the pull on the alternator?

Just double check all your wiring, the idle seems fine.
