Will full size spare fit in same place as half wheel

I have a 92 accord ex coupe. 15 inch rims. Will a full size rim and tire fit in trunk where the half size spare is ? If not then how much of it would bulge out?

It will fit diameter wise, but will protrude about 1.5 inches above the rest of the floor. In an LX coupe or sedan, a wagon trunk compartment will fit with a little modification to give a flat floor over a full size spare. Before I put one in Ruby (90LX), I used some pieces of 1.5 inch thick insulation board to raise the floor around the spare.

The ABS control box on the right side of the trunk in the EX intrudes more, so installing a wagon floor would involve a lot more cutting. I looked at it for my 92 EX coupe, but couldn't bring myself to butcher the wagon trunk compartment or the trunk liners in the car.

Edit: I suppose one could 3D print side compartments that would match the available space.

A full size spare does indeed bulge out a bit. But if it is a must, I suggest a wagon trunk compartment also. They bulge out themselves so you do lose vertical space, but you do have a rigid "floor" in the trunk. Plus, you get 2 panels that open that helps with organization.

ok cool good to know. that floor in fleetwoods looks good. I never liked half spares. What good is a 25 yr old spare also. And if i am more than 70 miles away from home i do not want to drive on that little thing. Not sure if i want to butcher things up to make a wagon floor fit. Will have to see for myself i guess how much it bulges out.

          Fleetwood,
I too will soon have a wagon compartment floorsboards but i have a question for you.

In Ruby, are those the original side paneling in the trunk? My white 93 lx comes with blue somewhat fuzzy material on the paneling. Did u do something to your paneling to get a nice smooth look to them

Those are the original panels with the "fuzz". I did cut the bottom off just behind the rear seat where the wagon floor runs up against the back side of the braces. I didn't cut the side panels further back. I also drilled and tapped holes in the metal floor under the two side compartments and used the screws from the wagon installation to anchor those compartments.
