ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

P5L ECU for an F22B swap?

Can I use a P5L Ecu from the newer gen preludes for the JDM f22b DOHC swap i'm doing as a substitute until i get the p39 ecu?

it would makes sense it would work decent cause it runs the same engine just in the newer years 97-01, but of course i have to get confirmation on this before i try it.

I know theirs a post about doing this swap as well, but it doesn't talk about using a P5L ECU or any other place for that matter.

Any extra information on ecu's would be nice

    Thank you guys

You don't want to use an OBD2 ECU. Your wiring is different, and most of those ECUs come equipped with an immobilizer. That is why people use OBD1 ECUs in these cars.
You could make it work, but it would be a lot of effort for little benefit.

Also, you do not want to use an H22A ECU for an F22B. That's like speaking Spanish to a Chinese guy, and expecting him to understand you. Use the appropriate ECU for the engine, or the closest OBD1 equivalent.

That is a good point that its OBD2 and can't really run an OBD1, what would be the next best thing other than the original as they are hard to find. a p14, but wire in a knock sensor?

I used the P14 and just wired in a knock sensor like you mentioned. I could not find a P39 for the life of me when I was trying to find an ecu for my F22B DOHC.

P39 is ideal, p14 with a knock sensor will work well enough (and the added protection of a knock sensor is never a bad thing). A chipped and tuned p06 will work well also.

if your engine from 5gen, then use p5l
engine from 4gen and 5gen is different

            i use p39 on 5gen f22b dohc - isn't good

                Why doesn't the P39 work for a 5th gen F22B DOHC?

can you explain how you went about wiring in a knock sensor, i decided to go with the p14 ecu, or if you could link me to a source that can show me this information

                  would be much appreciated.

Look on the H22 swap DIY threads. It should be mentioned in there, as the H22 requires one as well.

I used one of bolt plugs in the back of the block. I just drilled a hole 1/2" to 3/4" deep and tapped it. Then I just threaded the knock sensor into it, and wired it back to the ecu. Really simple actually. This way if needed I can just replace the plug if I was going to sell the engine and no one would ever know. I was leery about tapping the block just in case I screwed it up or ever sold the engine.

                        i ran a pt6 (stock f22a6 ecu) and a chipped p06 with P39 map. it ran the best with a pt6. power/fuel economy everything was better with a pt6.

                          Ecu question for f22b

I did a jdm f22b dohc non v-tec swap in my 92 accord. The stock ecu i sent over night to (phearable.net and they base mapped it,did the egr delete and a few little things and cost around $100. Never had a problem with it. Hope this helps.

                            Ecu help

The only issue i remember is the f22b was an internal coil in the dizzy and the f22a1 was external. Couple wires running to the external fixed it.
