unlock phone help

so my phone took a shit and a buddy gave me a bb 8520 i paid for the unlock codes but found out that the 5-25 mins for the code was only during buisness hrs so im screwed.
im hoping someone on here is smarter then me and can help

You should be able to call the phone provider and get the unlock code from them. Some companies though require you use the phone on their service for 30 days. You MAY get lucky and not have to do that, though.

And I'd NEVER pay for those unlock codes online. Odds are, they're a scam!

yeah those online ones are sometimes scams, but if you google a particular one you can get user feedback on whether or not it worked for them. normally though you can call the provider to which the phone was previously used with, and they will unlock it for you, provided it has fulfilled its contractual obligations.
