ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    92 over heating...

Will be replacing thermostat, radiator, fans, relays,.... eventually water pump and timing belt... Did I leave anything out...

    Yes, you left out diagnosing.

You don't have a Bimmer. No need to do a cooling system overhaul. Ask me how I know.

    Hoses can be replaced preventatively.
    Tstat can be replaced preventatively.
Replace radiators, relays, fans if and when they break...unless you want to replace it for peace of mind, then that's a different story.

Why is your car overheating is the question here.

Yeah I didn't do the diagnosis which would save me money rather than replacing parts that ain't broken. But I'm at the point is rather replace it all. I got it from a mechanic who said it had a blown gasket and that it would instantly overheat even when running. But that was three years ago it's been sitting. Idk tho did a compression check and they were 120 115 110 120 and pulled the plugs soaked in oil. Ima do a head gasket and up. Still have yet to get it to crank over and run. I got it to rumble up for a few secs than instantly died. Maybe bad gas I'm hoping

          what to look for.

This is what you should do.

Number 1 LOOK for any coolant leaks. check the following.
          Radiator
          radiator hoses
follow heater hose under the distributor
check hoses that go to throttle body and iacv (idle air control valve
check heater valve (black plastic device with cable attached to heater hoses near fire wall)
look for leaks near front of motor facing drive belts.(this could indicate the water pump leaking.)
follow the black pipe coming off of the thermostat housing that coolant pipe could be corroded( this happened to me on my f series.

FIX ANY AND ALL LEAKS. BLEED OUT THE AIR

If there are no leaks what are the symptoms?
only over heats at idle( this could indicate the fan is not working.)
appy 12v and ground direct to fan see if its good.
if it works plug out coolant fan switch with car running jump the pins
if fan runs suspect the switch.
swap fan relay with a know good relay test it.
there is a way to test relays with a meter but THATS A BIT MORE COMPLECATED.

oh yeah duh if ur thermostat is stuck close fan wont be triggered and coolant wont circulate.. u can test in boiling water or just replace it its cheap.
          good luck
a person who looks at somthing and see it as waste is no person at all but he who see what it could be will suceed
out with the old and in with the new
