ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Fixing Leaky Windshield

    Hello everybody,
my windshield has been leaking for awhile now and i am downright sick of it. started calling around to get it fixed and shops seem to be out of there gourd when it comes to the price. one reputable shop wanted almost a $500.00 deposit in case they break the windshield and if everything went well still close too $250.00 for the repair. the last place i called though told me that the leaking could be repaired without removing the windshield by putting a new bead of silicone around the existing window seal. so here is where you all come in... have any of you heard of this working? if it has worked how hard is it to remove the trim? (my Haynes manual doesn't cover this). Do i need those stupid, special retainer clips? if it wouldn't be that i am broke i would just take it to shop but my new toy has tied up mucho dinero. Can anyone help a poor white boy out?

The top right corner of my windshield use to leak. I pried the trim out just enough to put a thick bead of silicon where it was leaking. It's been nearly 6 months, and I haven't had a single issue.

With the ease of it, I wouldn't mind having to redo it every few months if the silicon ends up failing in the future. It took all of 5 minutes.

Silicone sealant should do the trick or, just replace the entire gasket

      life is good.

this might work if you want to you can try it. try to use 3m window weld insted of silicone might work better. i dont know never had that prob.

3m window weld was meant for sealing windows so it might work

The windshield trim does have those little stupid plastic clips that break really easy. The easiest way to remove them is to wrap the end of a small gulley shaped pry tool with tape and come at them from the windshield side...not the pillar side. After you pop the trim off just lay a fat bead of 3M windshield urethane around there and you should be good. Make sure you don't clop it up too much where the clips go in or won't be able to get them back in.

$250-$500 is way too much to get a windshield installed. The last one I did, I had it completely done in about 2 1/2 hrs and the windshield cost me $100 with 2 tubes of urethane.

there is a company here in sac that is top notch quality with 30 years behind them.

they will install a new one for 200 bucks.

just get a new windshield....fuk around and just break that one lol. it beats the money you will spend.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

You see models at every car show.
But have you ever seen a model that actually takes the car she built to a show?
