ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    2.5 or 3 inch exhaust?

Going to get exhaust done at a friends shop, i want to go 3 inch piping but ive heard that its really not necessary unless you have turbo. Will it be better for me to get 2.5 inch or is 3 inch going to give me more performance?

ya theres no need for 3'' unless ur running turbo or you fully built 2.5'' is fine if ur going 3'' ur loosing power not gaining id say 2.25 would be the best or just a full catback exhaust

2.5 is still unnecesary IMO unless you have alot of mods. and not to mention that the exhaust manifold/headers out there are around a 1.75-2 in collector

2.25" is about the ideal size for a stock f22a or with full bolt-ons. The only problem is, as soon as you throw in a cam, or swap to a H22, then you get closer to needing 2.5", so think about your engine plans, and then decide based on that.

Another compromise is to get an exhaust slightly smaller that what you'll need later, and just have a dump valve welded in.

As i thought, my friends shop does custom work, but if i remember right i think they only had like 2.5 or 3 on hand and they going to make me a header. Ill check again but ill go 2.5 then. Im looking to have a decently sounding exhaust, they offer a magnaflow muffler but i was thinking of buying an apexi one, any opinions?

H22 swap in progress so i think 2.5 will be good choice , ive got some slight mods but plan to upgrade more next winter.

2.5 will be good in that case then. Have a 2.5" collector and a high-flow 2.5" in/out cat put into your system too and you'll see better gains.

Like everyone else mention the engine is originally designed to run on 2 1/4 but the power loss by going to 2 1/2 will be hardly noticeable and 2 1/2 will be good even for a basic turbo set up. That's what I would go with.

If you're going to go with an H22 and have plans to do a bit of work a 3" exhaust will see gains. You don't need turbo to see gains from a 3" exhaust on an h22.

honestly for the price...a thrush oval chamber muffler is great..cost's about $40 and sounds much better then magnaflow, has a nice low growl to it with out the raspiness

think you could upload a video or a sound recording of how it sounds when you get it installed?

                              2.25 is too small

Maybe for a stock stock stock F22A... but if dude does any kind of meaningful upgrades (H22, F22 cam, H23 IM) a 2.25 will choke him down more than a 2.5. A 2.5 has 20% more area than a 2.25.
