So it has finally reached the time for the auto to 5spd swap that I've been putting off for the last few years. Yesterday on lunch from work my tranny finally gave out and now refuses to go into gear. On top of that, with the engine running, I now hear a god awful "whirring" sound coming from under the hood. I had hoped to put off the swap until after I graduate this may but looks like my cb had other plans. Anyone have useful experience tips that aren't outlined in the swap DIY? And also does anyone know where to source a new intermediate shaft?

so tomorrow will mark the beginning of the tranny swap. i hope to have it done and running by monday cause well I'm tired of riding my mom's ninja 500r. i mean it's fun and all but it just ain't the same as driving my cb. Wish me luck guys. I'll be swapping in a rebuilt h22 non-lsd tranny that took out of that prelude on pg2. Turns out that h22 had a hole blown in the side of the block so large that I literally picked pieces of the piston and rod out by hand. mind you these were not small chunks by any means. so wish me luck guys!

so the project/swap is on hold for the time being until I can free up some time from school. Graduation is a month away and the research papers have piled up. but more than that I had difficulties shoving the axles into the tranny/intermediate shaft. I had the same problem last time I did the swap. Gotta a buddy's dad coming over this week sometime to help me with that part. Also gotta source a couple of clips for the linkage bracket cause I can't find the ones I took off a few years back. Did manage to find the plastic and metal washers for the linkage though! Hopefully I'll have her back up and running next weekend if things go ACCORDing to plan....which never happens when working on a CB.

Hopefully this weekend I will nearly finish the swap. I have finals in a week and graduation in two weeks. I realllllly want to be able to drive this car to my graduation! That is my goal! All that's left is to make a JY run for the linkage C-clips, a new canister cap (I broke off one of the nipples trying to run that damn steel clutch line), replace the starter (because apparently at some point in time after testing the started to make sure it worked, i (or someone else) managed to break off the solenoid connector), fill with fluids, finish the wiring, and take the brake pedal to have a larger plate tacked on to hit the brake light switch. Seems like a lot but at the same time not so much. The only thing I'm worrying about or stressing over is the wiring. I don't know if i want to wire up the clutch switches so everything works right or just get it running. I'm leaning more towards the just running part for now until the summer when I won't have 18 hrs of classes weighing me down. I will upload more pictures of everything this evening.

                              Update!

So I bought a new starter over the weekend. I had a perfectly good one that i went and tested that surprisingly was passed. Unfortunately, when i went to hook it up i was puzzled by an extra wire and no plug for it to attach to. I looked a bit harder and realized that the solenoid connector had wholly broken off and left only two little strands of wire. I have no clue how it broke but it was in the garage at my mom's house and who knows who moved it. so $70 out the door just cause of that one damned connector. Regardless, i have a brand new (reman) started ready to go. Now all that's left is bolting up the starter, finishing the wiring, and getting the brake pedal modified to hit the brake light switch. The wiring had me puzzled and nervous so i've been doing more and more research about how to properly do it. I'm still undecided about hooking up the clutch switches due to me being a cheap ass. But there's always the saying do it right the first time. I just dont have the funds to shell out for a relay, wire, and the necessary shrink wrap for them. I am so excited to have my CB back on the road to go cruising for the summer. only a few more days....

I haven't had the time to finish my swap with finals and health problems over the last week and a half or so. I graduate over the weekend and had hoped to drive her...well now she's a he with a stick...to my graduation. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. Just isn't in the cards.

Words of encouragement would be much appreciated to push me to finish my the conversion
