ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

It's close. A 45 aspect ratio is 1.7% larger in diameter than stock 185/70/15 tires. A 40 aspect ratio would be 1.8% smaller in diameter. So either one is about as close as you're going to get, since there's nothing in between. I'd always go for the larger size myself, since the more sidewall the better. I had 205/40/17s on my first set of wheels and I managed to dent them over some railroad tracks in the first week!

Denting wheels on railroad tracks?! Good grief!

Next time I get tires, I'd like to bump the size up a bit for a little bit smoother ride.

Yeah, it wasn't even a major bump! It must have hit it just right. Falken Hanabis are terribly soft as well (very light weight cast aluminum wheels... weight savings comes from added fragility... but damn do they look good!)

If you go any higher, your speedometer is going to be off. Oversized means that when your speedometer says one thing, you're going faster. Not a huge deal unless you're WAY oversized, but a cop that might not have pulled you over for going 59 in a 50 might pull you over for going 61. Just keep that in mind if you go bigger, especially since these old speedometers aren't exactly 100% accurate to begin with.

Yup, and a lot of people don't realize this. I run 235/40s and 245/40s. I used a GPS tracking app on a long open stretch of road, and set the cruise control. At highway speeds (70-75mph), my speedometer reads 5mph too slow. So I make the adjustment now.

Really good to know. How hard is the speedo adjustment?

It's not really something you can do yourself. Best to stick to a proper tire diameter.

I make the adjustment while driving. I know it reads 5mph slow at highway speeds, so if I'm driving 75, my speedo is at 70.

I've got an Acura CL 02 Front knuckle and Prelude BB6 rear hubs.

With my 17x7 +35 OZ F1 Cup wheels and 215/45/17 tires, I rub slightly being lowered about 2.5" all the way around. If I raise it up an inch or so it won't rub.

I'd agree that this is the max. 17x7 +35 on a 215/45/17. Any lowering will need correction (pulled fender, camber, etc.) My sig may help ya out too.
