As far as I know, all H22s have the autotensioner setup.
why is this being converted to manual?

Not sure if I understand the question but I'll bite: the auto tensioners are known to fail, so the wise thing to do would be to convert and not risk blowing your new swap. ImportRP.com sells an all-OEM kit for much cheaper than buying through Honda or Majestic.

I have a question. As far as the fuel injector part of the cb harness goes, do I just unplug the cb fuel injectors and plug in the h22 injectors?

One more question, before I get stated. I heard that you don't have to do the manuel tentioner conversion if you don't mess with the valve train. My car is going to stay automatic with regular bolt ons so I was thinking about skipping this part of the swap. any thoughts?

Alright, so I'm really tired of this old ass, busted ass F22. How much happiness will an H swap bring? How much more fun is the H compared to the F?

                  Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much.

Seriously though, it's tits. It's a gain of about 70hp with the reliability of it all being from Honda themselves. Plus, VTEC is actually a pretty cool feeling... despite how much I used to rag on it before ever owning a Honda. Plus plus, if you get a clean low-mileage mill from HMO it's not likely you'll be performing expensive maintenance any time soon. It's so nice having a 'new' engine, I'm going on a year having this beast in and it hasn't faltered a tick. The only downfall is that it needs premium fuel, so you'll be paying a bit more at the pump (I'm currently spending about $45 for a full tank of 91).

                  Do iiiiiit.

In response to Hostile's last comment, just so the info's here: you don't NEED the timing belt tensioner conversion but if you're going to be wringing the shit out of your tach, keep an eye on it. From what I've read up on people having issues with the automatic, it just doesn't like being overrevved - stay out of the Prelude's redzone and keep an ear open for noise coming from under the timing cover telling you it needs to be changed.

I have a question regarding the exhaust options. I have a non-SH prelude header and a cat back. I was under the impression everything would bolt up but I'm being told that I have to get some work done at an exhaust shop.

What if you have the H22a wiring harness, will you still need to add new wiring? I know of an H22a that already has the wiring harness on it, it was not removed or cut.

I wanna order this JDM one with the AT but I don't know how im going to pick the thing up. Last time I ordered JDM it was an AT. I had the 18 wheeler drop it off as I picked it up. I was able to pick it up by myself and put it in my mom's lil scion xb. But a transmission and engine with the accsessories is going to be a heavy sob. The oil pan might be dented too(likely?). I can't have the 18 wheeler drop it at my house either.

Its simpler to use the F22A harness because it plugs in like stock and you only need to run a couple wires. To use the H22A engine harness you'd need wiring diagrams for both the CB7 and the Prelude so you can re-pin the H22A harness to plug into the CB7 harness. Likely have to swap connecters as well.

O really, that's good to know, thanks. How nifty. So the H22a harness is different.

So to run couple of wires for the H22 sensors (vtec, knock, etc) you would do what? Some picks would help.

Solder some wires on pigtail salvaged from another harness, bundle them up and run them in a neat and orderly fashion from the sensor to the ecu. really straight-forward, and detailed in many swaps on this board and across the internet. I did it on my old Civic, not to mention the fuel injection swaps in other cars that I have built entire harnesses for.

Search around, I'm sure there is a pictoral somewhere.

I was lazy and got RyWire's VTEC subharness. But I still had to swap a couple other plugs and mod the one for the dizzy to convert to internal coil. So if you want a 'pretty' option you can go that route, but the convenience will cost you.
