EXT: Civic Socket wiring, for Bumper light conversions

Since I had many people asking me how to wire in the Civic sockets for always on bumper lights, here is a simple explanation, with pics.

These sockets can be found on the corner lights of:

    92-00 Civic
    98-02 Accord
    92-96 Camry

    Other Things you will need:
3 ft of 14-16 gauge wire.
Other things you may need, depending on which method you use:
    4 red spade terminals
    4 red butt connectors
    Soldering iron
    Electric tape
    Heatshrink tubing
Lets start at the bumper light.

As you can see in the picture, I used spade terminals to connect the socket to the factory plug. They haven't fallen out in the 7 months since I have done this mod, but if you want it to be more secure, you could wrap the connection with electrical tape. I also used some dielectric grease to seal the plug.

If you don't mind the connection being more permanent, you can cut off the factory plug from the car and solder or butt connect the wires together. Make sure you match the wire colors, as it is important to not cross the circuits.

Now remove the corner light from the car.

Now cut a length of wire about a 1 to 1-1/2 ft length, long enough to easily reach from the front corner light socket. We are tapping off the red wire that goes to that socket, once again matching up the colors. How I did it was I stripped an inch off the end of the wire, removed the white part of the plug, and wrapped the wire around the electrode inside. I then ran the wire out of the plug and replaced the cap.

Now drop the wire down into the bumper, you can easily grab it thru the bumper light opening. Connect it as shown in the first pic. Reinstall the lenses and rinse and repeat on the other side. There you have it, simple light up bumper lights, no relays, just a socket and a little bit of extra wire. Enjoy!

Nice work, I didn't no I need a 3 pin thingie, and I went and jus spliced the wires to the corners, and blew mad fuses

You don't have to use civic sockets, u can use any 3 piece socket that fits in out housing, I think my buddy used a bonniville socket.

        I luv cb's.

Sorry guys guess I forgot to mention what bulbs to use with this conversion. Thanks for covering for me Accordwarrior!

I used 1157 for mine, they fit tight. The stock civic bulb works great if you have a pair.

You can use any socket that fits, however the Civic socket works perfect and is weather sealed. As mentioned in the original post, I found 98-02 Accord sockets are the exact same ones.

I have also found that 92-96 Camry sockets are the exact same, down to the markings. First post updated.
