ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Some may call me anal about my car. But no, no flushes as of yet. 64,000 miles and 14 years old :P
Maybe I'll talk to my mechanic about it. JW was pretty convincing because they have the machines, so... but to drain the tranny was 120 and to drain the cooling was 80some... I'm sure my mechanic would do it for half price

Honda automatic trannies are pretty much bulletproof if taken care of. I have never actually 'flushed' mine on a machine before though, I like to drain and fill 3 times.
Flushing on a machine and draining and refilling manually are two totally different things

        Very true.
I don't actually "flush" any fluids. Just drain and refill. Lots easier, just have to do it a little more often.

For the coolant and power steering I use OEM. For manual tranny I use half OEM and half Royal Purple SynchroMax (All RP products seem to be synthetic)...helped out with the third gear grind, and its been good down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
Clutch and brake gets any name brand Dot3/4 fluid.
Oil is any cheap/on sale synthetic 5/10w-30. Filter is Wix/Napa 1356

Yes they are, but that still doesnt mean there is anything wrong with having a tranny with over 150K flushed on a machine. You say you shouldnt get a tranny flushed because it might stir up dirt? Well whats better, stirring up all that shit and flushing it out or just letting it sit and collect?

If I didnt do all my work myself I would take my car somewhere to have it flushed on a machine, but since I dont have access to anything like that I must use the drain and refill technique.

Autos have an internal strainer and magnet. Wix makes an actual filter for them that's meant to be installed in the cooler line. Would be something to look into.

Manuals have no filter (there's no pump or fluid flow to utilize one), just an internal magnet. The fluid's pretty easy to change. Just the bolts are often very tight.

Radiator has a drain on the bottom. Just drain and refill.

People (me included) often just use a syringe to empty the PS resivour and refill. Maybe do it three times over three days.

            Brakes are probably hardest.
Tranny fluid, PS fluid, and coolant I get from Honda. The rest are aftermarket.

A search should give you plenty to read and think about. A repair manual would be a good investment, too.
Can't argue with those freebies...but yea 64k and need flush already? Sounds to me that they're just money hungry cuz that's Bullshit. You shouldn't need THAT much flushes at 64k. I'd keep askin around for some DIYs first. GL.

wasn't it every 30,000 miles or 2 years? or something like that? I live in AZ, so im probably gonna do it at that interval, considering I live in the most severe conditions for a transmission.

my 90 accord ex is at 162000 miles and im sure the tranny has never been flushed. Is it a good idea to do this? I was advised against it cause it might mess with the gears if they are too warn and may start to slip if i flush it.

I would just change the fluid and call it a day
