ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

S Light Blinking in 91 Accord LX

My S light on my Accord is blinking and I don't have the slightest clue. I have heard it might be my VSS but I would like a second opinion before I go blow money on a part I don't need. Also my speedometer is not working, so that migt also be related.

sounds like the VSS but use the search function for TCU problems

there are a bunch of threads where TCU problems have been solved including yours

If that were the case, then my car would never keep charge due to my amp and sub-woofers But thanks though.

Still haven't figured it out; however, I will be putting in a new VSS soon. Just got it in the mail.

There is a thread at the top of this section that says "READ HERE FIRST" in the title. In that thread, you will find a link that will show you how to read and interpret the error code that your S light is flashing.
The speedometer not working is likely the VSS, but the S light could be something else.

              Noticed

If you know how to pull the codes then post an we'll go from there.

Mines is a automatic, so If your driving an noticed your cb7 is lagging on the shifting then i know the problem. If stick shift, then i wont know.

If he pulls the code, he won't need you to tell him the problem. That's the point of the code.
If it was stick shift, it wouldn't have an S light.

mmm changing the engine will not fix the issue since the VSS is located on the transmission. The ''S'' light blinking can mean a few things. For those with the 92-93 accord Auto the ''D4'' light is your ''S'' light. stick shift I forget What light if any blinks for 5 Speed.

When the VSS is not working the ''S'' Light will blink. To change the VSS is not to hard to do just ''search'' around here I am sure you will find it.

If your VSS is not the issue, Then the cluster might be shot.

S light blinking can also be issue with the shit gear box or TCM but if it was the TCM you would feel an issue when shifting which you never stated.

Please anyone feel free to correct me if i am wrong

alxlll34, did you bother reading the information you thanked everyone for?

The flashing S light indicates a transmission error code. The transmission computer is telling you that something is wrong. Read the thread at the top of this section marked "READ HERE FIRST" for the diagnostic procedure. It's very easy. All you need is a paperclip and Sesame Street level counting skills.

Changing the engine, as stated, WILL NOT fix this problem. If your engine is running properly, don't waste your money. This is a transmission issue... and likely not a serious issue with the transmission itself, either.

The VSS is likely, but pull that error code before you start replacing parts haphazardly.

When it comes to fixing your car, follow these steps:
                      1) Observe (take note of all present symptoms.)
                      2) Diagnose (narrow down the problem to as specific an area as possible.)
                      3) Research (learn as much as possible about the problem area.)
                      4) Re-diagnose (research often yields insight not considered the first time)
                      5) Ask (if needed, ask for advice... but ONLY after you've taken time to inspect the issue yourself.)
                      6) Collect necessary parts and tools
                      7) Replace damaged part according to factory/manufacturer specs.
                      8) Test drive.
                      9) Re-inspect.

All too often, people skip right over 2-4, and sometimes 5. Once you've skipped those parts, your job becomes a lot more difficult if your uneducated guess doesn't fix the problem.

Sorry for the confusion. I forgot to mention that I did get a VSS to replace the old one. The engine has a shot cylinder and instead of replacing that, I would rather replace the whole engine. The old one is pushing 310,000 miles.

Just out of curiosity... did you pull the code, or did you just replace the part and hope it worked?
