ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Idle issues

So I have read around this forum and on the net about idle issue. I have read that it can be a multitude of things. When I ran my check engine codes it said it was my VSS and my 02 sensor. I have sense replaced the 02 sensor and still have issue with my idle. The VSS I am going to replace tomorrow on my day off. I had one guy at a store tell me it was my TPS sensor. I mean if the ECU is not throwing that sensor code where should I start?

    P.S.
Please no flaming I really have read around about what could be. I just do not want to spend money when I do not have to on sensor that are good.

The VSS and o2 sensor have nothing to do with your idle problems. That's like trying to fix a flat tire by replacing a headlight bulb.

Read the "read this first!" thread at the top of this section. You will find a link to a thread that tells you how to set your base idle. It involves cleaning/adjusting/replacing the IACV and FITV. The TPS may be part of it as well, but that would throw a CEL I believe.

well i ran the cel and I got a code 17 and 41. I have already replaced the 02. Senssor about two years ago and never reset the ecu. So I am prettty sure the 02 sensor is good. 8 have the VSS and going to install it tomorrow. I am going to take the adivce of cleaning those compents and see what happens. I. Am happy that its not the map sensor or somethingg else expsensive. Will keep yah posted

41 is the o2 sensor... so either that sensor went bad (if it's a Bosch, that's almost guaranteed... you have to use either NTK or Denso.) or there's something wrong with either the wiring or the ECU.

Inspect the wiring. See if you can get your hands on another ECU (after resetting yours, of course...) If neither thing fixes the problem, get another o2 sensor. RockAuto.com has a good deal on a Denso sensor.

Well just to update I got my VSS on so now the speedo is working, I also painted the valve cover red and replaced the the seal. Next I have to take the rocker assembly off to get to other gasket. I also have to get the gas filter onto. Of course this is if the weather will let me. I have also been searching around to find out if there is a wing installation guide out there. I will post picture tomorrow when there is light out.

I noticed erratic idle when I added some coolant to the car at one time. (had air in it) Bled it, and it stopped. You could check it out. It's free!
