ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Fuel Issues, Ive tried everything.

Ive changed my distributor, my main relay, my fuel filter, and most recently, my fuel pump.

Im not sure if its my IACV or TPS, or even something else. But my car will sputter, almost like its starving while im driving. Every now and then it will die while im sitting at a red light or stop sign. Ive tried pulling codes, but I only come up with a code for my egr valve (Which ive removed and blocked off.) I had the egr connector still plugged in, and had recently unplugged the connector, I cant remember if the problem started after unplugging it or not. The CEL or the EGR comes on after ive been driving around for a while, well at least it used to.

I dont think it could be my fuel injectors or missing a spark. But I really dont know TOO much about my car. I only know what ive tried to diagnose.

Is there a fuel relay in the car? I cant remember if i read that there was or not. If so, could that also be the issue?

All help is much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

The main relay is the fuel relay. If you've replaced that with a known good one, then that shouldn't be the problem.

Check all your grounds and battery connections. Make sure all are clean and tight. Make sure no wires are grounding out.

Check your spark plugs. Fouled plugs can cause issues.
Replace your o2 sensor with a brand new Denso or NTK/NGK unit (no Bosch. They don't work.)

Sorry to sound stupid, but do you know where all of the ground wires are located? I know where 2 of them are but are their more than that?

Id like to do all of the free things I can.

Also, I have another, running cb7 that is completely stock that I can pull parts from. I bought it for a parts car.

I have had a similar problem i would start my car and drive and my rpms would drop and it sputter and stall and sometimes result in dying i replaced alot and tried alot couldnt figure it out then one day my friend told me fill my tank half full and use a full bottle of a really good fuel injector cleaner and a full bottle of fuel system cleaner so i figured it would be worth a shot since i tried everything so i filled it half full roughly and added the bottles cleared right up and i have never had a problem since so i asked him how he knew and he said either my fuel line was clogged or injectors best 20 bucks i have ever spent give it a try worst case senario it wont work and u will be right were u started

Thats interesting, and a good easy fix. But I know my fuel line isnt clogged. This is for sure an electrical issue.

My roommate is one of the best mechanics in the area. Known for building some of the best 240's. Anyway, we diagnosed it last night before I went to work, we came to figure out that its the ground for my main relay. It has a bad ground, causing it to heat up and short out. I have a walbro fuel pump and you can hear it a lot better than the OEM pumps. The short is causing my fuel pump to cut out. So, now I just have to find out where the main relay's ground is located, and fix it.

Have you re-soldered the main relay? Sometimes just changing them does nothing. If this does nothing, you can always run a new ground wire.
