Has anyone ever had this problem?

I bought a set of cd5 ex wheels off of craigslist the other day.
I haven't had a chance to really check them yet. But has anyone every bent a factory rim? Just curious, they look fine, yet not as nice as the photo on clist.

They may have used some google photo's for the craigslist post. As for being able to see if a rim is bent, you just have to inspect it closely unless you want to spend the money to take it to a shop, which if you don't feel confident in whether or not you are able to tell if there is a bent rim or not, it would be safe to take it down to a tire/wheel shop to have it inspected.

I do realize any rim can be bent. And how silly this thread seems.
I'm more wondering how hard one has to hit to cause damage like that. Or how often it could happen.
I've never actually bent a wheel before..

On my first 5th gen, I had probably 3 out of 4 bent wheels. It was a 95 EX.

edit: Very possible and very likely (at least in my area with all the potholes) on something that old.

It doesn't take much to bend a wheel, hit a pothole wrong or hit a curb at low speeds could cause a wheel to be bent, plus other damage can be done to the suspension as well.

Mount one on a rear hub (with the tire off) and give it a spin - it should be fairly obvious if it is bent or not; hold something stationary near the edge of the wheel as a reference. The wheels can be refinished to factory condition; both appearance and straightness (at a price!). A place in Dayton, Ohio has done several sets for me.

I cracked and bent a 17" MBmotering rim by driving over a fresh pothole after a rainy day. I was driving between 47 - 50 MPH when it happened and that tire was relatively flat.

My rim has a nasty dent in it but I bought it that way and it holds air. How it got the bent, I am curious because all 4 wheels have nasty curb rash all around so it must have been something stupid enough to have them sent to a junkyard.

Like I said, I've never bent a rim before. But I did buy I set of wheels from Vietkid_2006 before I was a member on here. One of those wheels was bent, and he didn't tell me. But I was stupid enough too buy and he filled the tire up so I couldn't tell. I have learned quite a bit since then. I know better
