Indeed. Because the person driving the car is the only one that matters.

Everyone died but the driver. 5 star safety rating for the tree test.

I'm pretty sure that any car would split in the same circumstance.(hitting a tree sideways at very high speeds)

          Speaking of "superior" German engineering.....

                    Ya Jon has an Audi.

And what everyone is failing to see(or some) is that if the car had hit the tree at a different angle then he would be dead....the car didn't protect him in any shape or form...he just hit the tree at the perfect angle allowing him to keep his life.

Cars are not tested to hit trees at speeds capable of splitting them in half.

There is a reason for that. We want you off the road.

Did anyone see that documentary on google video about Group B racing. "Still too fast to race" or something like that?

It's got some AMAZING stuff. Makes me wish we had racing like that, 800 hp twin charged 4 cylinders and all that.

They just removed the video from google unfortunately.
Been a long time. Still alive...

I think it would be awesome if the NHTSA tested cars for tree impacts. Sling shot the car at like 80mph head on into a large oak tree and see what happens.

I love that movie, "Too fast to race" is the first one. I wanna find a hardcopy of both.

Just the sound of the cars is enough to necessitate a new pair of pants
