ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Car starts , bogs , and dies !! Main relay???

I bought a 1991 accord lx with 256k miles changed the water pump , spark plug and wires . When i go turn on car the car starts off normal it idles past 1200 rpm and then the rpms just drop slowly and it starts to bogg and die. Also when it starts to bogg down it throws "sport" mode flashed for like a second or two. Im guessing maybe it could be the , fuel pump, main relay, or the fuel filter ? Any help will be appreciated .

The main relay controls the fuel pump. If the engine is running even for a short time on repeated attempts, it is getting fuel... which means the relay is working. You'd have to check fuel pressure at the rail to determine whether or not it's a pressure issue, which could indicate a failing pump, clogged line, or clogged fuel filter. I'm not sure any of those are particularly likely, however.
When you changed the water pump (and timing belt, I hope!) did you take care to properly reset the valve timing? If it is not set correctly, the engine won't run properly. Unless you're absolutely sure you did it correctly, that would be my first suggestion. Even if you're sure, I'd suggest double checking.

Also, the "sport" light flashing usually indicates a TCU error code. I don't think any issue with the transmission would cause problems with the engine, but it may be indicative of another problem. You can find how to read ECU and TCU error codes in the thread marked "READ HERE FIRST" at the top of this section (don't worry... nobody ever actually reads it first... it couldn't possibly contain useful information...)

When the main relay went out on my car, it would crank, but it wouldn't turn over at all.

Yeah, when the main relay goes out, the fuel pump gets no power.

I always check the simple stuff when im having problems. Id make sure each spark plug wire is getting good spark. Any Cels? Its either starving from fuel or spark

If you lightly press the throttle, will it keep running? Make sure the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector is connected. You might even clean the IAC. The Fast Idle Throttle Valve (FITV) and air start valves will allow some air to get to the engine when you first start it, but they relatively quickly let the IAC take over controlling the air for idle. If it is unplugged electrically, or plugged mechanically, the engine won't idle.
