i just got a Casio Exilim EX-Z70. Got it over Black friday at Sears at 5 in the morning standing in the cold. Paid only $170 for it, saved 60 bucks that day. It has 7.2 MP and can really take a picture of a newspaper from 5 feet away and still clearly read the words. I love it, I take it to car shows, hikes, adventures around the ASU campus if you know what I mean, haha. I dont plan on upgrading for awhile. It seems to have everything a college kid could want in a camera. Oh and it fits in my pocket like a cell phone.....very slim and portable.

what kind of shows? concerts? yeah see the problem is light. flash on the p&s sometimes not powerful enough.

I'm looking for the ideal cost-conscious, borderline pointnshoot--DSLR. Would you guys recommend the Coolpix L100 from Nikon, or the SX120-IS from Canon? both are 10mp, L100 is 15X optical, Canon is 10X optical. Both around $225 from tigerdirect.
Currently, I'm shooting using my first digi ever, a Powershot A80 4MP. Bulletproof camera, but I want to upgrade. Some input please, if ya'll wouldn't mind ![]()

I have a d5300 with a 50mm afs 1.8 lens currently. I'm new to photography but what lenses are best for car photo shoots? I want to take some pictures like these:
![]() ![]() ![]() Also what would my 50mm be used for best? Here's a picture I took with my camera ![]() Last edited by kseriescivic; 03-24-2017 at 01:54 AM. |

On a DX format nikon, your 50mm is too long for the photos you're after. Something wider, like an 18-24 would be a lot better. On you DX camera, the 50mm is equivalent to a 75mm on "film", which makes it a good portrait lens.
This one is with my Nikon Coolpix A. It has a DX sensor and an 18mm lens: ![]() This one is with my new Nikon D810, which has a full frame sensor, using a 24mm lens: ![]()
