Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    hybrid intakes

has anyone on here tried a hybrid intake kind of like this

i see it alot on spoon sports cars and i did a little research. with the factory air box and high flow panel filter it increases the throttle response dramatically. im wondering if anyone has dynoed a factory air box with k&n filter before.

not necessarily arc, just aluminum piping and the stock air box with k&n filter. im planning on modifying the stock air box a little and building a ram air tube. i wan the benefits of a lower iat without restricting flow. i also wanted to point out that the factory air box acts as somewhat of a dynamic air chamber. im going to experiment with this and see what it does. im telling you spoon wouldnt put a factory airbox on a performance engine that turns 10k plus if it hurt performance that much.

The stock inlet tubes on at least a CB are restrictive.

That said, IMO, companies like Spoon and Mugen are on the right track with their intakes.

I have taken several stock airboxes and opened them up by installing larger inlet pipes, a panel filter and then running the stock rubber tube to the throttle body.

I like this setup, because it allows a lot more flow than a stock airbox, keep intake temps in check, gives a large volume of air to flow on throttle tip in (the airbox is essentially a reservoir) and it keeps the intake stock sounding. I have a 3" inlet into mine right now, and at everything other than high load and full throttle/high RPM's it sounds just a little bit throatier than stock. No heat soak issues, no hydrolock issues, and isn't loud all the time. I can also just use stock filters.

I have pictures of it in my MR thread.

see this is exactly what i was talking about.
                  this is the plan
                  fill in here

                  cut here and fill

                  cut here

                  and install this

and maybe finish it off with a velocity stack somewhere
